Kapiti Summer School Day 1

Fantastic,

Finally the fine weather, 5 tutors, NEARLY 40 keen ART students and the day has arrived for summer school to take off.

Soon Eucalypts, coffee and blueberry muffins dominate the smells wafting around the campus.

First forays into textile experiments using plants and water around Kapiti give us another blueprint image of an artists life in 2008.

Excitement ripples around as India Flint's students unpack their tightly wrapped bundles of silk cotton and wool from the brewed cocktails of mordants, metals, with onion skins, fennel, fallen dried pohutakawa flowers, harakeke and various eucalypts.

All manner of coloured variations are possible depending on the time allowed to tether, bind, seep, brew, soak and commit. We await and try to identify each others wrappings....don't try to remember it all - write it down as you go and process the findings in light of a new day.

This one is over.
